I always enjoy welcoming people to St Peter's Church in Didcot. I arrived here as the new parish priest in 2004, and I’ve quickly discovered that the people are very open and welcoming. But I've never felt swamped by people trying to be too helpful – they respect the space we all need as well. The building is warm and welcoming too, and although it was only built in 1976 it is unmistakably a holy place, touched by God.
Inside St Peter's At St Peter's we try to be at ease with God, with one another, and with ourselves. Although sometimes things can seem busy – we have lots of fantastic social events as well as our services – it's a golden rule that nobody should be asked to do things that aren't part of their calling from God. So we encourage people to be prayerful first of all, and then to respond to God's call, whatever that might be. That's the way we keep our focus on God.This website has been designed to give an overview of our life as a church. We have services and other activities for people of all ages, and the other pages give plenty of details. But the best way to experience St Peter's is to pay a visit, maybe to our 10.00am Sunday morning service when most of us gather to worship God. I look forward to welcoming you myself. p.s. Joy Carter is to be ordained as a deacon on Sunday 11th January, following her three years of training. The service will be at 3.00pm here at St Peter's. Please keep Joy in your prayers, and make a note of the service time and date in your 2009 diary. We are hoping to give Joy a home communion set as a present from the people of St Peter's. If you would like to make a contribution towards this gift, please pass your donation to Fr Edward before Christmas. |

See the skydive webpage for video of Father James' skydive. Thank you for your support! Father James leapt from an aeroplane at 13,000 feet on 6th December at Hinton-on-the-Hedges, Brackley in order to raise the profile of St Peter’s within the community, and at the same time raise funds for the Parish. If you sponsored Fr. James please send your donation to him or Mark Bayliss. (Don't forget to use Gift Aid if you can).

The electrics at St Peter's were installed in the 1970s, when the church was built, and by early 2008 they had become unsafe. Also, the lighting was poor, and the church ceiling had never been repainted. |
